2024 started in full throttle creating the brand identity for Bukett, an Amsterdam startup focussing on faux-bouquet rental services for offices. Mana-Ma is a combination of two Sanskrit words meaning ‘Mother (of) the Spiritual Heart’. I created a series of mandala’s consisting of the ‘M’ wordmark. Creative mastermind Stephen O’Neill and I have been sharing the task of designing everything that’s involved in starting up—and scaling up—this brand. From the very first wordmark and Indiegogo campaign website, to the packaging, webshop, flyers, banners, POS materials, newsletter templates and all social media content. and writer of sensual, female focused poetry. Her wish was to give visual shape to her work, and she was looking for a designer to help her with this. This is one of those (work) matches that only comes along every once in a while. It was an instant hit, and working with her sparked many new levels in my own creative thinking. The first stop so far was the art project called ‘De Heg’ (shown below) on Marineterrein in Amsterdam, initiated by artist Naomi Jansen, where it was on display for all of April 2024. &nbsp; One of many things I love so much about this project, is that it’s ongoing, and keeps expanding. Specifically the coloured swirl that’s inside transparent cat-eye ones. Knikkerkapitalen (what’s in a name) only consists of capitals, and is originally designed to be used as start-capitals. But if you really want to shout something to someone in a nice, still slightly subtle, not so harsh way, you can also just go ahead and use these! ‘Knikkerkapitalen’ isn’t actually a typeface yet though, I tried dragging the shapes into FontForge once but gave up when I got to the kerning part. Starting with the brand positioning (including an advised name change from the more generic ‘The Psychedelic Collective’ to ‘Everything Felt’, which adheres much more to the awe-inspiring nature of this type of therapy). I designed a few posters and helped roll out a campaign. Hoping that even just one person would change their mind and would put nature first this time around, instead of themselves. For the typography on these posters I drew inspiration from butterflies, and how amazingly soft, fringy and weird the hairs on their bodies are.
