Have you ever had black or semi-transparent spots and squiggly lines dancing around in your eye fluid, tracking your view with a slight delay? These spots are actually protein structures, and they’re called ‘floaters’. They mostly become visible when you stare at the blue sky.
‘The Book of Floaters’ is a book I made about exactly these. I’ve always had floaters myself, for as long as I can remember. And sometimes they drive me absolutely insane. I hoped that making a book about them was going to make me be more at peace with these annoying little thingies, but unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case—yet.
2023 grunge effect lovers eat your heart out: to get the exact grungy effect I wanted to achieve I printed out the entire book and then photocopied everything by hand on an old black & white copier. It gave the blacks such a nice cloudiness, it was exactly what I was looking for.
